Tea time with Mum rarely goes exactly as planned.
Someone gets up halfway through. The kettle goes on again. Cups are forgotten, then found and refilled. What starts as a simple cup of tea turns into an afternoon no one is in a hurry to leave.
And before you know it, the conversation settles in.
Setting the table
Mother’s Day can be as simple as setting time aside.
You reach for the cups she always liked. A space is cleared at the table. Things don’t have to match perfectly, they just need to feel like her.
A tea tray with neatly arranged envelopes sits at the centre, next to a cast iron teapot, warm and ready.
The first tea poured is usually LMC Pure Rooibos. It’s the one everyone reaches for without asking, familiar, easy, always right.
Letting her take her time
Mum rarely sits down straight away. She’s still checking on things, adjusting something in the kitchen before she finally joins.
So the tea waits. And then it’s poured again.
Someone brings out a second option, like LMC Jasmine & Orange Blossom. Not to replace the first, just to give her a different cup to choose from when she finally sits down.
Something a little extra
There’s usually warm scones with jam and cream on the table, simple things made with her in mind.
Tea moves with it. Cups passed across the table, refilled without asking. A blend like LMC Strawberries & Cream feels right here, the kind of tea that feels a little more like a treat.
Staying longer than planned
No one really keeps track of time. The table stays as it is. The conversation drifts. Another cup is poured, this time LMC Spicy Chai, something warmer as the afternoon settles.
Later, when things quiet down, a softer tea follows. LMC Lemon, Chamomile & Lavender, easing the day gently into the evening.
What she actually remembers
It’s not the setup. It’s not the tea.
It’s that she got to sit a little longer. That no one rushed off. That the kettle was boiled more than once.
Sometimes, the most meaningful Mother’s Day gift is simply making space for tea time with Mum.
